International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

A warm welcome to all of you. So buddies hope you enjoyed Father’s Day !

TGIS is back with a new series. 26th June is observed as the international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. This weekend let’s pledge to stop drug abuse. Today drug abuse stands as one of the major problems faced worldwide.  It has in the past and still continues to ruin generations.

Day by day the cases of drug abuse are increasing. One of the major reason to this is, that we have lost control over our mind. We are not able to handle stress and failure in life. This is the time when the youth resorts to drugs to get a kick (or to escape into a happier place) Many a times people fall to peer pressure. It begins with just an occasional smoke with friends and goes on to become a severe addiction to drugs. We have almost lost the ability to say a “No” to addictions, as our appetite for trying out new things never satiates. This is the age where we may get easily influenced by such addictions.

We should say a ‘NO’ to drugs for our own good and instead choose health. If you really feel depressed and you need a high, then you can opt for meditation or even talking out what you feel can help.

The film fraternity has been instrumental in creating awareness against drug abuse since ages.My plan for the weekend is to watch the movie ‘Requiem for a Dream’ based on the effects of drug abuse. This weekend you too can go watch a movie for a social cause and stop drug abuse.

Today I bring to you a list of movies based on drug abuse and its effects:
